Urban Gardens in Edgewater Beach
A community garden between the city and the lake
Community residents formed The Edgewater Beach Gardeners Association (EBGA) in 2015, seeking more space for vegetable garden plots. In consultation with the Chicago Park District and the Ward 48 Alderman’s office, the EBGA agreed to take responsibility for, and expand upon, the Berwyn-Sheridan Garden, located in the Edgewater Meadows, in the summer of 2016. This garden is now known as the community garden of the Edgewater Beach Gardeners Association, with more than 60 individual gardening plots. The long-term goal of EBGA is to provide space for all interested gardeners in the community.
